Young Dancer Division

BCW's Young Dancer Division consists of two Creative Movement and two Pre Ballet levels.  Each have been specifically designed for students age 3 through 6 in order to meet the highly specific developmental needs in each of these years.

The school also offers Hand In Hand, a weekly drop in lesson for children, age 24 - 36 months, along with their active caregivers.

Hand In Hand

Hand In Hand invites two year olds and their active caregiver to explore movement with instruction designed to improve body awareness and movement in space.  Based on the work of Anne Green Gilbert called “Brain Dance”, this class is designed to give your two year old creative play while laying the foundation for healthy brain development, sensory motor development, and life long learning.

*This class will commence in November

Primary Division

BCW’s Primary Division consists of three Elementary levels, enrolling students ranging in age from seven upwards.  Class level placement is based on a combination of age and technical training.

Instructors follow a uniform, time tested and systematic ballet syllabus where clean technique, attention to detail, proper alignment, and musicality are emphasized.  Instruction is highly specific with individualized corrections, ensuring that all students receive the feedback necessary to master the material presented. Students develop coordination, strength, and flexibility and explore deepening artistry, furthering their love of dance.

Each Elementary level meets twice weekly, with classes ranging from one hour to one hour and fifteen minutes depending on level.

Upper Division

BCW’s Upper Division consists of the Intermediate and Advanced levels.  Class level placement is based on a combination of age, technical training and experience.

In these levels, refining technique with great attention to detail and furthering artistic expression and musicality continue to be emphasized.  Instruction is highly specific with individualized corrections, ensuring that all students receive the feedback necessary to master the material presented.

Pointe work begins in the Intermediate level after a student has been studying for at least four years, and their legs and feet are sufficiently developed.  Students gradually begin pointe work throughout the year.  They’ll practice for 15 minutes at the end of each technique class and in a separate weekly, one hour pointe class in addition to their standard class schedule.

Upper division levels meet three days weekly, with technique classes ninety minutes in length.

Intermediate and Advanced level enrollment requires three weekly lessons.
